MTSU Department of Psychology
Statement of Support for the LGBTQ+ Community
The Department of Psychology supports the rights of the LGBTQ+ community, both specifically in Murfreesboro and more broadly across the state and the country. As a department, we are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all of our students. We understand that this is a particularly challenging time, and we stand with you in the face of the adversity and discrimination currently facing the LGBTQ+ community.
If you are in need of support or want assistance in reporting an incident and don’t know who to speak with, please consider contacting a member of the Psychology Department Committee on Diversity and Inclusion (https://www.mtsu.edu/psychology/CommDivAdHoc.php), which is dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives for all of our students.
You are also welcome to reach out to any other department faculty with whom you feel comfortable.
Outside of the department, the Office of Intercultural & Diversity Affairs (https://www.mtsu.edu/idac/index.php) offers support regarding LGBTQ+ issues at the university level.
Students can also report incidences of discrimination directly to Institutional Equity and Compliance (https://www.mtsu.edu/iec/).
If you are looking to connect with the broader MTSU LGBTQ+ community and to access additional resources, please visit https://mtsu.edu/lgbt/.
