Undergraduate Scholarships & Awards

Psychology Department Awards 

The Psychology Department has monetary awards for outstanding students.  These awards are given only once each year and are competitive.

Belsky Annual Psychology Scholarship

  • Recipients must be enrolled full-time, have a declared major in Psychology, and be in good standing with the University
  • Recipients must have an overall minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Recipients must be eligible to receive need-based support
  • Recipients must have past volunteerism working toward the betterment of society
  • Should a recipient become ineligible, any remaining scholarship award will be forfeited, and a new recipient may be named using the criteria stated above

Larry W. Morris Outstanding Senior in Psychology Award

  • Recipient must be a senior pursuing an undergraduate degree in the field of Psychology.
  • Recipient must have a minimum overall GPA of 3.75.
  • Recipient will be asked to submit:
    • a copy of their academic transcript,
    • a curriculum vitae or resume that outlines educational experiences and achievements, research activities, previous awards/honors, public service, and publications/presentations,
    • two letters of recommendation from current Psychology Department faculty,
    • a short personal statement that discusses accomplishments, career goals, and how the information learned within their Psychology courses will aid in those career goals.

Tyler A. Schultz Memorial Scholarship in Psychology

  • Recipients must have a declared major in Psychology and be in good standing with the department
  • Recipients must have an overall minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Recipients must have attained junior or senior status at the time of the award
  • Recipients must be eligible to receive need-based support
  • Preference will be given to students who graduated from a Tennessee high school

Angie Heydel Walker Scholarship

  • Recipients must be pursuing an undergraduate degree in the field of Psychology and have completed 45 or more hours toward the degree
  • Recipients must have an overall minimum GPA of 3.0 at the time of the application
  • Recipients must be eligible to receive need-based support
  • If a recipient fails to maintain the required level of academic performance or changes to a major outside those specified, they will forfeit any unpaid balance of their award

Angie Walker Memorial Scholarship

  • Recipients must be pursuing a master’s degree in the field of Psychology
  • Recipients must have an overall minimum GPA of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale at the time of the application
  • Recipients must be eligible to receive need-based support
  • If a recipient fails to maintain the required level of academic performance or changes to a major outside those specified, they will forfeit any unpaid balance of their award

Beryl West Psi Chi Award

  • Recipients must have a declared major in Psychology and be in good standing with the department
  • Recipients must have an overall minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Recipients must have attained junior or senior status at the time of the award
  • Recipients must be eligible to receive need-based support
  • Recipients must have demonstrated a history of active service in their church, university, community, and/or other unique voluntary service

MTSU Scholarships  

MTSU offers a number of scholarships that may be applicable to psychology majors who have completed the General Scholarship Application. Students can conduct a scholarship search to determine the availability of such awards.
