Student Organizations & Clubs At MTSU

Psi Chi/Psychology Club

Psychology Club is the student organization for MTSU Psychology undergraduate and graduate students. This organization is open to all MTSU Psychology undergraduate majors and minors, as well as graduate students. To join, students should submit a MyMT interest form and attend an event.

Psi Chi is the International Honor Society in Psychology, founded in 1929 for the purposes of encouraging, stimulating, and maintaining excellence in scholarship, and advancing the science of psychology. Membership in Psi Chi is open to both undergraduate and graduate MTSU psychology students. To be eligible for membership, students must meet the minimum qualifications. Psi Chi is a member of the Association of College Honor Societies and is an affiliate of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Psychological Science (APS). Psi Chi’s sister honor society is Psi Beta, the national honor society in psychology for community and junior colleges. Inductions to Psi Chi are held at least once a year, typically in late fall.

At MTSU, Psi Chi and Psychology Club have shared events. Students can participate in events whether they are only in Psychology Club, only a member of Psi Chi, or a member of both. Any psychology student can join Psychology Club and then also apply for the Psi Chi honor society if and when they become eligible.

To get involved the Psychology Club, simply come out to one of the Psi Chi/Psychology Club’s events that are offered during the fall or spring. Flyers for events will be posted in the ACB and, when possible, on the Department Facebook page or Psi Chi/Psychology Club Facebook page.  Typically, monthly events consist of academic events (e.g., guest speakers), social events (e.g., game nights), and service events (e.g., Relay for Life).  Informational interest meetings are held at the beginning of the fall semester. Click here to learn more about the MTSU chapter for Psi Chi and Psychology on MyMT.

For fall acceptance to the Psi Chi honor society, students must submit their applications by September 15. The Psi Chi membership application can be found here. An MTSU faculty advisor will approve registrations once a semester, shortly after the semester due date.

Please Note:

  • Being accepted into this MyMT group does not equal acceptance into the official Psi Chi International Honor Society.
  • In order to become an official member of Psi Chi International Honor Society (with verifiable membership through Psi Chi headquarters located in Chattanooga, TN), you must apply and receive acceptance through the psichi.org website.
  • Then you must pay your one-time, lifetime membership dues to the Psi Chi Office. Then, chapter advisors will approve applications and notify you.

We would love to have you join us at MTSU Psi Chi and Psychology Club.
